FUNACOP was SMT’s flagship project and was successfully completed. It enabled the installation and implementation of a pilot-scale production line for nanomaterials (with a capacity of up to 500 L). These materials form the basis of the multifunctional additives developed at SMT.
The main goal of this project was to investigate and assess the viability of the industrial production of nanocontainers for the controlled release of active species, such as corrosion inhibitors. These materials were further applied in functional coatings for anti-corrosion purposes.
The consortium of the FUNACOP project was led by Smallmatek, Lda., in partnership with CICECO – University of Aveiro.
